Why elevators suffer from heatstroke?
According to relevant safety technical specifications, the air temperature in the elevator room or machine equipment should be maintained between 5-40 ℃. Usually, the control and drive systems of elevators are installed in the dedicated elevator machine room at the top of the building. In summer, if the machine room does not have good ventilation and cooling measures, the temperature in the machine room will exceed 40 ℃. High temperatures can easily cause electrical components such as the control system motherboard to malfunction or the overheating protection devices of components to activate, leading to the elevator stopping operation.
"Heat Relieving" Suggestions
So, how to cool down the elevator and ensure its normal operation in the continuous high temperature weather? Provide the following elevator safety suggestions to all units.
01 User Unit
(1) Strengthening ventilation and cooling in the computer room, installing air conditioning or exhaust equipment in the elevator room if conditions permit, and enhancing air flow in the computer room can help maintain a suitable operating temperature.
(2) Strengthen daily inspections, including checking whether the temperature in the computer room is within the effective range, and whether the air conditioning, fans, elevator control cabinets, and frequency converters in the computer room are operating normally; Check if the ventilation fan inside the elevator car is working properly, if the emergency alarm device is effective, and promptly notify the maintenance unit to handle any problems found.
(3) Ensure smooth communication in the duty room, develop emergency plans and effectively implement them. In case of trapped passengers during high temperature weather, attention should be paid to their condition at all times, and timely comfort should be provided to prevent elevator safety incidents caused by self rescue errors.
02 Maintenance Unit
(1) The maintenance unit should pay attention to checking whether cooling equipment such as fans and air conditioners are working properly during daily maintenance, and regularly inspect the operation of heat sources (such as frequency converters, brake resistors, and motors).
(2) During hot weather, maintenance personnel should implement heatstroke prevention and safety measures during elevator operations and rescue operations to ensure good physical condition and personal safety.
03 Passengers
Passengers should follow the safety guidelines for elevator use in a civilized manner. Once trapped in an elevator, there is no need to worry too much. In hot weather, nervousness can easily lead to shortness of breath. However, elevators are not enclosed spaces, so there is no need to panic. You can seek help through emergency call buttons, elevator emergency phones, or maintenance and rescue hotlines. Stay calm and patient while waiting for help, and do not open doors for self rescue to prevent unnecessary harm..
